What is the biggest misunderstanding of tire maintenance

post in 12/05/2019

Automobile rubber tires have been invented for hundreds of years, and the manufacturing process is changing with each passingday. They can withstand various deformations, high and low temperatures, and complex road conditions, and provide basic support for automobile driving.Under good maintenance, each tire can support the vehicle for 50,000 to 60,000kilometers. However, if maintenance goes into a misunderstanding, car tires will change from a reliable helper to a time bomb at any time, making driving anightmare. The following are eight misunderstandings of tire maintenance. Findout what you need at critical moments.

Mistake 1: Wash your car as soon as you drive back

Some car owners are more "working diligently". As soon as the car stops at home, it will wash away the dustand mud stuck on the journey, which is not good for the tire. Because the tireis still hot just after stopping, flush it with cold water immediately, and the tire is more likely to harden and age.

Mistake 2: pet urine can corrode tires

There are many pet owners today, and some puppies sometimes run to the urinary pee to occupy the land, which makes many car owners worry that the rubber of the tire will be corroded. In fact, this kind of worry is completely unnecessary. The urine of cats, dogs and other pets does not react with rubber, and the aging effect is minimal. The surface of the automobile wheel hub has also been subjected to anti-corrosion treatment, whichis resistant to strong acids and alkali, not to mention pets' urine.

Mistake 3: tires can last for ten years

Under comprehensive road conditions, the tire use and replacement time of general house hold cars can refer to two standards: First, the use time should not exceed 5 years. Second, the mileageunder comprehensive road conditions does not exceed 60,000 kilometers. If the owner often drives on non-paved roads, he should change the tires earlieraccording to the wear of the tires.

Mistake 4: just change the damaged one when changing the tire

If the size, structure and wear status ofthe four tires are inconsistent, it will affect the handling and stability of the vehicle. Therefore, it is best to use the same brand and the same specifications for the four tires to ensure the best performance of the vehicle.

When a tire is worn and needs to be replaced, if there is a problem with one tire, it is best to replace all fourtires at the same time. Even if it is impossible to replace them all at oncedue to some circumstances, at least two tires on the same axle must be replacedat the same time. For every 10,000 kilometers of vehicle travel, the tire can be adjusted to prevent irregular wear of the tire, thereby extending the tire life.

Mistake 5: use it immediately after changing the tire

Some car owners are more frugal, ignoredmany items after changing tires. In fact, after changing the tire, some itemsmust be done, such as dynamic balance and four-wheel alignment.

Dynamic balance is to adjust the balance of the weight of the tire. Generally, you only need to do it after adjusting thetire. Because the wheel is a whole composed of tires and hubs, the massdistribution of each part after replacing the tire cannot be completely uniform. When the wheel rotates at high speed, it will form a "dynamicim balance" state, causing vehicle shake, steering wheel vibration and other phenomena. In order to avoid this phenomenon,a balancer is required to test the balance of the tire rim under motion after the tire is replaced. Byadding a weight at the imbalance point, the balance of the edges of the wheelcan be corrected. The four-wheel alignment is to adjust the geometric angle ofthe tire and steering, suspension and other components to ensure the close combination of the tire and the ground. After replacing the tires, you must do four-wheel alignment to prevent inaccurate positioning, which will cause excessive wear on the tires and affect the maneuverability and safety of the car.

Mistake 6: tire pressure is as high as possible to save fuel

When the car tire pressure is insufficient, the tire sidewall will be too loose, which will easily cause uneven wear of the tire and increase fuel consumption. Some car owners think that the tirepressure can be increased a little, which can help save fuel. However, if thetire is inflated too much, the tire will be more susceptible to externalimpacts, and it will also easily cause uneven wear, and there will be a risk of flat tires caused by rising tire temperature.

Mistake 7: When the temperature rises insummer, the tire pressure can be lowered to prevent puncture.

As the distance traveled by the vehicle increases, the temperature of the tire will increase. At this time, the tire pressure will increase compared to the cold tire state. Many car owners believe that this will increase the risk of flat tires. In fact, after a period of driving, the tire temperature will stabilize and the tire pressure will not continue toincrease. If you deflate and worry about the risk of tire burst due to anincrease in tire pressure, the carcass deformation will increase duringdriving, which will increase fuel consumption and affect the service life of the tire. In fact, as long as the tire pressure is within the normal range, there will be no excessive wear or the risk of puncture, and there is no need to specifically adjust the tire pressure.

In general, tires are very important for car safety, and owners should pay more attention to tire maintenance and inspection. But don't just save money on the tires, we can't take our lifelightly. It can’t be used anymore, let ’s change it, even if it is harder and more wear-resistant ~
